Mendoza Mariden, BSN, MPH, RN

Dean

Ms. Mendoza graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and furthered her education to achieve a master’s degree in public health at the University of the Philippines. Her graduate studies were made possible through the support of two scholarships from the Philippine government and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). Ms. Mendoza has been a nurse for more than forty-six years and has served as a nursing administrator in areas such as New York, Florida, and Washington DC. In January 2014, she also served as a nursing program director for many schools of nursing in Florida.

After serving her country, Ms. Mendoza migrated to the United States of America in 1983. Migration was challenging, because one needed to pass two national examinations (CGFNS and NCLEX-RN) to prove competency. Aside from the examinations, she survived a plane crash in Alaska on August 31, 1983.

Due to the tragedy, she found her purpose in educating graduate nurses of foreign descent and helping them pass examinations successfully, reaching a 99% passing rate. She called her program the Transcultural Nursing Review and was declared the pioneer of this program in 2004.
